Brian D. Sweeney, United Flight 175

September 2006--as a participant in the 2996 project--I was assigned the privilege of memorializing Brian D. Sweeney, a passenger on United Flight 175.

Of Viking Heart was written in tribute to a man I never met but came to know only by his passing, through the voices of his friends and family.

Today, I will think of those he left behind much too soon and their loss that never ends.

And I'll think of Brian,
38, who claimed to be part Viking and part Leonardo da Vinci.

Others remember Brian here.

We will never forget.

"In the nine years since Sept. 11, 2001, the legal claims for people who were injured or killed in the attacks have almost entirely been resolved. Thousands of victims and families entered a special compensation fund created by Congress and were paid more than $7 billion; a much smaller group chose to file lawsuits, which have been settled over time for about $500 million.

All, that is, but one.

The holdout is the family of Mark Bavis, a passenger on United Airlines Flight 175, the second plane to strike the World Trade Center."

That's me: Mark Bavis' family. Never settle. Hey, I just want to note that every time I see this vital man I know he is still here. Hard energy like his doesn't leave. I hope his family is somewhate comforted that so many think of him so many years later. Seems like a blink to them. One who knows.
Lord have Mercy on all of them.

Wow. Eerie. I hadn't read the story yet when I made that comment:
The victim’s brother, Michael, who was his identical twin, said in an interview that the family had never considered settling out of court. “Settlement has not been in our vocabulary,” he said.
Amen, sir.
Stay strong.

Oh my GOD. How ludicrous is this, sunny? The 'legal' system is opining that this has ignited a debate pertaining to whether a trial is a public forum for disclosure.
UM. WTF?? LOL. Are they serious?? It's the OPTIMUM forum for disclosure as all the landsharks KNOW.
PUSH PUSH PUSH. Wish they were pushing to reveal the real truth behind Sept. 11, 2001 as I believe that all this concentration on muslim v burning the quoran is staged to do exactly this: Frame it as a zealot v american thing again. Because have you noticed the little tiny articles that america must control HER domestic zealots?? I smell more rights slipping away.
This to me was hilarious?::
The family’s push for a trial has ignited a debate among legal experts about the value of litigation as a forum for disclosure.
LOL>LLLLLLLLLLLLLLL liars

And the hero and the hero's brother and the hero's sister:

Michael Bavis, 40, said the family believed that only through a trial could the defendants be held accountable. “The public should know,” he said. “We’ve got a responsibility to hold them to the fire.”

I can't imagine what a TWIN must be going through losing his twin.
I come close but that's a step harder. I feel the underlying strength and resolve built from anger ....

I wonder how many twins lost a sibling 9/11?

I think the whole thing is a bit ludicrous to begin with. What exactly is being sued? Are they suing the Terrorists? or the government?

If the Terrorists, how exactly are they getting anything out of it? If the government, what exactly are they suing over? Lack of preparedness? the laws that allowed people to carry the knives onboard? this is what confuses me. The government is not at fault no matter what conspiracy theorists want to believe. No way to track a decentralized group of people that want to do you harm. As far as tracking RSO over OBL, the RSO is mandated to self-report, OBL lives in a cave.

Not wanting to take away anyone's sacrifice on Sept 11, but sometimes a step back to think outside of the emotional side of things gives a better perspective.

I think you're under-thinking, anon. You are right. The government is PERFECT. LOL. If we can't track em then what is that nebulous war on terror all about? OF COURSE it's THEIR FAULT. THEY DID IT.
