No Unemployment Compensation for Sex Offenders?

The Senate is scheduled to vote on HR-5618
, the "Unemployment Benefits" bill this afternoon.

The bill is apparently headed to the floor without deletion of the following phrase disallowing sex offenders from receiving unemployment benefits.

‘‘(2) ensure that benefits under this Act are not provided to any individual convicted of a sex offense against a minor (as such terms are defined in section 111 of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (42 U.S.C. 16911)); and..."

Sad. Sad. Sad.

Per eadvocate:

"Breaking News 3:00 PM: The Senate has passed H.R.4213. HR-4213 DOES NOT contain anything w/respect to sex offenders. Hopefully this ends the problem with HR-5618 which contained the offending language. Tomorrow when HR-4213 is posted to Thomas we can verify there is nothing offensive in the bill.

Tuck this away in the case you need it. Bobbie Madonna is now in tallahassee and she represents a guy I think should be out of prison. He shot (and murdered one or two) Tampa firefighters some time back. HOWEVER, one of the firefighters he shot who survived said he did not shoot them because he was a disgruntled employee. He shot them because they were burning peoples' homes down. Word from a good source.
Sunny you're going to think I'm gone mad. But what was that word you told me I was describing abuot Tampa?? Not corruption. Not nepotism .... I haven't been able to think of it to save my life. I mean I am sorry to people died. BUT yknow ... who knows about the lives THEY destroyed by burning homes down??? It about killed my Mother when our home was burned down and then they came after hers AGAIN before she died. Who burns down the homes of old women? Well, some guys who get shot in the back. That's who.

About how long ago did I mention it?

I still hold to the fact that HR 5618, if it contains that language will be found unconstitutional. The ONLY reason that the registry is found constitutional is the vague idea that it enhances public safety, none can be gotten from a bill promising a citizen unemployment benefits.

Whew. Maybe a year. Maybe in email. I was writing to you or talking to you about what goes on here and you described it a word.. not cronyism, not nepotism, not corruption. A nice unique succinct word. Dang it. I want to know. I have been trying to think of it for months off and on > LOL ...

Shouldn't sex offenders stay in jail.

What an inciteful comment. If you want to trash the Constitution, sure why not. Even then, we need to look at few facts. First what do you think a Sex Offender is? Do you think it is anyone on the registry? If so, then you truly need to get educated. Of the over 700K people on the registry, it has been shown that only 5 to 7% will ever re-offend.

So, if you want to talk about the 5 to 7% that are dangerous, then maybe, but if you are talking about the entire group of them, you need to re-educate yourself. Not all RSO's are child molestors, a greater portion of them are in there for Romeo and Juliet type offenses, victimless crimes, and the like.

I have a feeling that your belief is that all RSO's hide in bushes and jump out on unsuspecting kids right? If that is so, then you are terribly wrong. Get some information, stop parroting whatever is on the TV, and use the facts instead of what you are told by biased politicians.

I would say your questions was answered, KM.

Any News on the Jobless Bill passing WITH that stupid amendment. I would like to say that I have phoned Conyers office about this and told him he lost my vote again this year.
