ACLU Rejects Plea for Assistance

So much for help from the ACLU.

Read it and weep.

Re: Request for Assistance

M/M ______:

We have reviewed your complaint and regret to inform you that the ACLU of Florida declines to offer you legal assistance. Due to our limited resources, we cannot take all civil liberties cases brought to our attention, and we must concentrate our resources where they are most needed.

In declining to represent you, the ACLU is not passing judgment regarding the legal merits of your case. You may wish to consult further with a private attorney. You may contact the Florida Bar Lawyer Referral Service at 1-800-342-8011 for an attorney in your area.

Thank you for writing to the ACLU of Florida. We wish you success in resolving your difficulties.

Sincerely,

Intake Department

They like the gay stuff. I'm telling you. They barely raise their heads for anything else. There is a fairly responsive lady who works there her first name is muslima. You may want to shoot her an email. Sorry not to know the last name but she'll pop up on search probably.

Their standard rejection letter. I think that they have one person who pulls in the mail and presses ONE button on every complaint they get.

I don't think the ACLU actually ever helps anyone. They just the money!

I would love to know the process of rejection.

Thanks for the tip. Maybe rejection is standard, just to see if the requester will follow up with an appeal of the rejection.

I'll see what I can find out.

Let us know.

We NEED a "Southern Center for Human Rights" like Georgia has.

All we have down here is a lot of lip service.

IF you could find a gay RSO they would snap to attention. I am not joking nor saying this lightly. THAT is their hot button issue. They claim to forward the complaints here and there and in surrounding areas the problem is in the leadership and the attorneys. Try Muslima. She's responsive. EVEN IF you try to get your complaint out of the local hands to get it some attention they forward it back here. It's quite strange and appears they try to avoid stuff. BUT, not always. Capcricious. I can't emphasize enough how much they like gay issues.

If you want help from the ACLU, just tell them you are a boy in desperate need of joining the girl scouts or you are now a boy scout and heard someone say a prayer. They care-not about civil liberties of real people.

This is the same answer I got here in Maine. After "harrassing" them for six months with a one dollar check donation that cost them money to process than they got for the check I got a real person to talk to. She was very nice and honest. Bottom line is the ACLU is a "Non-Profit" that survives on donations. If they were to take on the Sex Offender issue they would most likely be out of business in a year. They are more concerned about their next pay check than any real civil rights issues. But she assured me that if they ever try this with say drug dealers or gang members they would be able to step in and fight it without losing any donations.
