Is the government doing enough to keep children safe from sex offenders?
And with that question, I--in my Pollyanna hopeful way--really thought Hardball's Chris Matthews would impartially explore why the present laws did nothing to protect (or help) Jaycee Dugard?
Instead, he chose to interview a lightning rod, former prosecutor and NFL cheerleader Wendy Murphy and together, both screamed personal opinions seemingly based on a quick Google search of whatever agreed with their preconceived notions.
Check out this misinformation.
Matthews: "A certain recidivism rate...something like 100%..."
Murphy: "Studies show average sex offenders have an average of 100 victims..."
Matthews lost a major opportunity--I'll go as far to say a timely opportunity--to open up a research-based discussion regarding how these laws keep our kids less safe. For crying out loud, he didn't even bother to book a rebuttal guest.
I'm sick of what happened to Jaycee and I'm sick of the laws that helped keep her prisoner for 18 years and I'm sick of so-called journalists buried so far in their own bias that the truth--as they see it--is the only version they determine fit to tell.
Many Americans are currently engaged in a boycott of advertisers who choose to sell their wares on Glenn Beck.
I think it's time to add Hardball and Chris Matthews.

I'll repeat the mantle. SOMEONE probably knew about this asshole, garrido. They let him fester until we got the chance to display what was going on REALLY with these laws and then yanked him out in public view. It's just too pat.
It's just too prepared. How many of these? NOT THAT MANY. AND NOTHING WILL STOP THEM. NOTHING. Yet these assholes like chris matthews attempt to hold an entire country hostage. Not to mention boiling the pot ... under the guise of 'child protection.'. If you put each of the principals of the nazi party of germany next to each of the principals and propagandists of this american nazi-ism. The greening of america you would be able to name the goebbels and the eva brauns= and the rest of them. I keep meaning to do that. Anyone with more time feel free to jump on it.
Meantime, I haven't read all of this and have a slight disdain for alternet drving the racism train when it doesn't HAVE to... but there's this. Seems middling good coverage at least.
I wrote hardball today. my words were sort of screwy, as I was really pissed about he show and its lies. however for your review:
Dear Hardball. I would like to bring into the light certain statements from your Sept 2nd Show regarding sex offenders that are not only inaccurate, but fringe on slander.
Chris Mathews stated: "But there‘s a certain recidivism rate with these sex offenders, isn‘t there. It‘s something like 100 percent."
Actually the recidivism rate is 1.3 to 7% depending on the crime being committed. The majority of sexual offenders commit ONE crime and after they complete their time in prison, tend to try and become productive citizens. This is something that the news are making difficult and actually causing some Sex Offenders to drop off the registry and recommit new crimes. You beat a dog enough and he will bite you, isn't that true?
Wendy Murphy stated: "It‘s all there. Studies show that the average sex offender has over 100 different victims during his lifetime,"
This is a blatant lie, Actually the opposite is true. 33% of all sexual offenses happen against children, most are done by same aged peers (14 to 17 years old). Out of this group, the average of violent sexual assault is very low. In actuality, a great number of teen sexual assault cases are statutory rape cases where the sex offender is a boyfriend/girlfriend dating an under aged partner. If this more than 100 number were true, coupled with their 'fact' that sex offender always offend, there would not be a single person in this nation that hadn't been sexually offended against. Do the math, it just works out that way. If what she stated were truly a fact, there would be over 600,000 rapes everyday, for a combined total of 219 MILLION rapes a year.. that is over half of the population of this nation.. Come on folks, do the math and figure out what she said is a lie.

This is also a LIE. Most sex offenders that are placed in prison serve their full sentence. In this case maybe not, however most states today have mandatory minimums in place to stop sex offenders from getting out early.
The reason that this guy got away with what he was doing for 18 years is just the opposite from what your obviously bias'd ex-prosecutor, turned cheerleader, states. The true reason that people like this guy, and the few like him, get away with continuing their criminal enterprises is that groups like NOW, Adam Walsh, et. al. have created this hysteria that all are cut from the same cloth. 93% of sex offenders come from the victims family or someone they know very well. Only 7% of all Sex Offenders are strangers. And here is the largest reason that guys like this one get away with continuing to harm others: All sex offenders are treated the exact same. All sex offenders are not predators, yet all are treated as such. The registry should be used to track only those that show a continued want to re-offend, instead it treats that guy who pee'd behind a bush the same as someone that grabs an 8 year old and kills them. This is wrong.
It is a very RARE occurance that a sex offender grabs a kid off the streets, instead most sex offenders that offend only need to walk down the hallway of their home to do so. This is all documented. Why didn't your show, or your producer, investigate these things? Wendy Murphy is completely ignorant of any facts at all, yet you use her as your 'expert'? That tells the knowledgable person that Hardball has no intention to tell truthful information, that you only wish to garner ratings and set forth lies, adn sladerous remarks to the community at large. It is this behavior that makes the community at large unsafe, as they have no idea who to watch and who not to.
All this being said Hardball, as well as most other 'news' shows, is completely ignorant of facts regarding this issue. If you did some research using studies done by the department of justice, the University of Washington, and several other accreddited sources you would see the truth. Instead you rely on the big headline, the inaccurate information from someone like Wendy Murphy, who hasn't met a man she didn't want to shoot. The real question is, Doesn't even Hardball want to offer truth to its viewers? Or is Hardball so starved for people to watch it, that it resorts to slander and malicious intent to garner viewers?
Thank You Hardball, yet another ill-informed, uneducated glimpse into the mind of newscasters everywhere.

Anyway... yknow how the cops and firemen and judges and etc... are building these garrison neighborhoods? NO NO NO NO NO ... they can't do THAT. Since they are all about thinking that the chirrun are at risk from these horrid people who sleep with teenage girls and urinate in public and the one in a million who actually do harm an actual child HERE is what they should be thinking of !!! WHY didn't someone think of this SOONER??? Instead of isolating themselves and their children from RSO(SRO) they should have them scattered throughout their neighborhood or at least THEY should be scattered through every hood.... Because of COURSE, a law officer or other govmint official makes far better parents than WE, of course, right? So, of course THEIR children with all this added knowledge of all the scum in the world have better faculties and skills to protect themselves and avoid PREDATORS than the children of mere citizens, correct? Of course. OF course they do. PLUS a cop would be RIGHT THERE and maybe even the offender's JUDGE or prosecutor. So, they'd KNOW what was going on and protect the public interest as is their stated 'safety' goal, correct?
OF course it is.
So, by all rights they should be providing housing all throughout their neighborhoods and if it's THE TONIEST, (as it is) then there is nothing wrong with a few fourquada, duplexes, lesser homes and/or apartments scattered throughout.
IN THIS WAY these lawmakers and enforcers could truly serve their community and meet every goal of public safety for da chirrun that they have in mind. AND there would be no one to blame at ALL if they let this horribleness go on right underneath their busy noses.
So, I say we push for sex offender housing to be CLOSER TO LAW ENFORCEMENT.
It only makes sense.
The sheriffs love the county and the housing there is cheaper, normally. So, there could be PLENTY of leeway there for these people that everyone loves to despise.
Instead of cop/nurse/soldier/fireman next door (gad) we should have 'sex offender next door'.
That way everyone would be the safest if they were up and among law enforcement and judges and lawmakers and their families because ThESE FOLKS ARE the experts. AND, shit they could also let them caddy for them on the nines.
I have just solved the world's problem with sex offender housing.

I know someone in that area whom before he was murdered was being threatened with statutory rape of someone whose parents sent their slutty daughter OVER TO HAVE SEX with him (nightclub owners) but then decided she was not a slut after all and it was all his fault.
