Yearly statistics for Writs of Possession executed by the Brevard County Sheriff's Office:
2003 -- 2,020
2004 -- 1,900
2005 -- 2,503
2006 -- 2,104
2007 -- 2,571
2008 -- 2,640 to 2,700 (Estimated)

I haven't looked at the numbers for Brevard, but in Orange County about two-thirds of all evictions filed result in default judgments. That means nobody even showed up to try to defend themselves.
Tenants do have rights. Responding to a eviction lawsuit will at least buy you time to get moved in an ordely manner.
Landlords frequently make mistakes in filing eviction lawsuits.
