America's Dirty Little Secret

As Brevard County Sheriff Jack Parker and his Pips--the Brevard County Commission-- surreptitiously took a peek at the Frog's post Saturday, one of my great online pals has expressed frustration with the Blogger method for archiving SF past posts.

Try as I might, I can't seem to figure out how to list Smashed Frog's monthly archives by title, so I've taken the beginner route. I've listed all posts pertaining to America's Dirty Little Secret--the creation and perpetuation of the sex offender myth in this country, with Florida the Smarty Jones of the States in the lead--(and I hate that comparison because I love that horse)--and compiled all, until I've got about 24 free hours to figure out how to hack the Smashed Frog blogger template.

I will list ADLS in my sidebar for easy reference, under No Easy Answers, the Human Rights Watch report that I encourage everyone to read.

Grab a beer or a glass of wine and peer through the archives. My hopes are that you will come to believe what I know.

The issues of Sex Offenders Gone Wild is a myth based on political gain. The current research blows out of the water every single reason politicians base their claim for the need of these Scarlett letter laws.

Those politicians include many of our own Florida Democratic state legislators who have chosen this issue to initiate legislation, to spread Fear, even though human rights and civil liberties activists have provided lawmakers with current research.

Dan Gelber and Dave Aronberg are among those politicians. Just check their records.

Because politicians have lied, they have painted themselves into a political corner with no way out. To come to the assistance of a sex offender? There goes the end of that political career.

Let me help these fools out.

The faces of the truly dangerous are hidden among the faces of those who have been caught in the net of behaviors legislated as sex offenses. Many have never physically touched anyone--adult or child.

Our children are more at risk because you--Mr. and Ms. Politician--have cried wolf.

Want to really keep our kids safe? Go back to the drawing board with the truth and start over.

Why do I fight this battle?

It's wrong. Better yet.

It's immoral.

Demand more from law enforcement and your legislators.
