Bob Allen is on the move.
The Florida state rep--arrested for what Daily Show host Jon Stewart refers to as "Drop and Give Me $20"--has had time (and most likely counsel) regarding how best to wiggle and worm his way back into the good graces of his constituents.
Allen-charged with one count of solicitation for prostitution after an alleged run-in with a Titusville officer in a public park restroom--met with members of the Central Brevard NAACP to dig his way out of his self dug grave.
A meeting with the North Brevard branch is also planned.
Under fire for racially insensitive comments heard by anyone in the world who cared to listen after release of the audio by way of Florida's broad Sunshine laws, the Florida Civil Rights Association wants Allen's head on a plate in the form of his resignation.
Allen--ever cognizant of a way out of a tough spot--responded that his comments "had been taken out of context and character."
"I was also described as a heavy-set, disheveled white guy."
What's your point? The "white guy" reference or the stated obvious?
(Honestly, I don't make this stuff up).
Allen--obviously a guy in need of a good trainer--also indicated his occupation as unemployed when booked but had no difficulty asking law enforcement if his job as a state legislator would make any difference in his arrest.
Back in the nineties, Florida Today withdrew their endorsement of Allen's attempt at a run for Florida Senate after discovery the candidate had embellished his credentials.
North Brevard NAACP president Bill Gary said he'd let Allen explain himself.
Just don't believe a word that comes out of that obviously non-vegetarian mouth.
