I searched online for America's soul this morning. You know the type.
Writers who remind us of who we once were, back when Americans cared about one another, before the privacy fence replaced the chain link and we all became islands unto ourselves.
Many blog the energy for much needed political change but those who stir the hearts blog the social conscious, peeking through the knothole to view that other backyard, that's not a sanctuary but a fortress against the day to day struggle to simply gain the strength to launch the morning catapult.
These writers--good hearted, selfless types engaged in often thankless work--remind us that people need help now. Now. Not tomorrow or after the next election.
Right this second.
Visit these bloggers. I've listed five. Add a few of your own. Show your support--show your respect--and add these sites to your blogroll. In doing so, you help get the good word (and the good work) out.
Take respite in their words.
It's good for the soul.
A poverty lawyer (and, by the way, law professor) comments on social justice issues, news and court decisions ... with a few other random thoughts thrown in here and there.

"Who are we as people? Why do we behave the way we behave? What has become of us? Where is our soul? Why would we allow nearly 50 million Americans to go without any kind of health coverage, 9 million of them children? That is not America. That is not the America I want to see exist. I believe we are better than that."
