The Mark Foley Watch
3/31/2007
Florida law makes it a crime simply to use lewd or explicit language "that is harmful to minors."So you tell me why Mark Foley is still biking along South Ocean Blvd. in Palm Beach, Florida?
The feds story is that it's HARD to charge Foley as actual sexual contact must be proved as required under federal law.
Oh wah, boo hoo and that's a bunch of covered-wagons-circling-for cover bullcrap.
Title 18 of the US Code, Section 2422, paragraph (b)reads: "Whoever, using the mail or any facility or means of interstate or foreign commerce ... knowingly persuades, induces, entices, or coerces any individual who has not attained the age of 18 years, to engage in ... any sexual activity for which any person can be charged with a criminal offense, or attempts to do so, shall be fined under this title and imprisoned not less than five years, and not more than 30 years."
Sounds to me like the feds are trying hard NOT to charge Marky-Mark.
Friends of Foley include Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, who-when not firing U.S. attorneys-is quick to profess full prosecution for those who prey on children, unless of course, that person is a personal friend who relentlessly drove the Adam Walsh Act through the 109th Congress under suspension of the rules.
Foley's cover may be blown (no pun intended) should Alberto be forced out of office in just a few short weeks. And right behind the AG trash, Nancy Pelosi should drop-kick the Walsh Act back out into the field of lies and deception from whence it spawned.
I'd absolutely love to hear what John Walsh has to say about the delay in charges as well as "child advocate" Mark Lunsford, who is contemplating a run for the Florida state House on the single issue, the death of his daughter. But of course, nobody's talking since they failed to ascertain their own "House" was spic and span before legislating how to spit-clean everyone else's home.
Florida, meanwhile, continues to gather testimony from pages and indicate Foley could be charged before the summer.
Many feel Foley's financial and political connections will afford him justice inaccessible to the average American, Americans who- in no uncertain terms-would have been charged federally faster than Foley dashing off a quick IM.
But the Frog has true faith in the police state called Florida.Florida got Ted Bundy.
Florida got Danny Rolling.
Florida will get Mark Foley.

Lundsford running for Office? I'm not sure that would be a smart move for him considering...
Considering the Lunsford back story?

Yes, I agree that a skilled politician would do lots with this...
There was a reason I left that hanging... I want to check with you first via e-mail... Yeah, that.
And considering he wants to do so as a Republican...
Well, I haven't heard any follow up on the story, so maybe somebody talked him out of running...you know, the politicians saw easy votes with Lunsford and now that they've used him, he's small potatoes now.
He should have sued Florida while he had the chance.
